Joining a Session

Joining replaces your current patch with the host’s. Save your work first.

With an invite code

1. Type the code into the invite code box.
2. Click Join, or press Enter.
3. Click Join again to confirm.

If the session has a password, you’re asked for it next.

From the list

Listed sessions show the host’s name and how many people are in. A lock icon means it needs a password. A warning icon means it uses modules you don’t have.

Click a session to join it.

Missing modules

If the host’s patch uses plugins you don’t have, a window lists them before you join. Each has a View button that opens it in the VCV Library.

Install them first, or click Join Anyway. Missing modules are left out of your rack. Everything else works and stays in sync.

A red bar in the session shows how many you’re missing. Click it to see the list again.

Wrong password

You see “Wrong password. Try again.” Your patch isn’t touched until you get in.

If your connection drops

The plugin reconnects on its own, up to five tries. If that fails, click Reconnect. You get a fresh copy of the host’s patch.

Leaving

Right-click the session panel and choose Leave Session. You keep the patch as it is.

If the host ends the session, you go back to the session list and also keep the patch.
